3-58. The ego, being blind, grasps in darkness for anything to attach to. It is a gelatinous cube of desire. All you should ever need is within your heart. Look to Love and it will always provide guidance.
The desulatory desire to desire is endemic to the ego. It cannot be sated, for the ego knows no satisfaction, no resolution and no cessation. The ego desire solely to grasp onto whatever it can find to distract and entice you, for the ego is a byproduct of an error of perception, and while the ego knows little indeed, it can innately sense that it is wholly dependent upon your voluntary attention and support for its continued existence. The ego is the inescapable manifestation of a singular belief taken to the most extreme and illogical conclusion - that fear in any form is justified. This is a statement against which many will rail, slamming their consciousness against a directed conclusion that there must be some incontrovertible error contained within what is presented, for surely there must be a basis upon which fear is justifiable, if we are to regard this world from a material perspective. And of course there is cause for fear from a purely physical vantage point, for throwing one’s self off of a tall cliff will naturally result in a very suddenly arrested descent, the consequences of which are not at all preferable to remaining stationary and not subject to the gravitational influence of the Earth’s mass. But that is an irrelevant discussion and it is, in truth, simply a distraction employed by the ego to attempt to codify a schema within which fear can be assigned - with great inapplicableness - to all that occurs, when no such extension of rational material caution is justified. Simply because your body can - and will, without exception - perish does not mean in any way that attempting to extrapolate from this inevitable certainty to rationalize some form of relevance to All That Is, is at all logical or justifiable. It is not at all - it never has been and never will be. Simply because all that is material must perish, altering its functional state into one which is most beneficial for the decomposers of this world, the great fecundity of macro- and micro-processes which recycle so much of the component constituents of this world so that they might be reused for the benefit of other organisms that are yet to be created, there can be no genuinely verifiable method with which such natural cycles must be evidence that your consciousness, at its most base and eternal level of awareness, will cease to function appropriately for you once the time arrives for you to leave this mortal coil. That is the error of perception that the ego relies upon, but it is a falsehood of misperception and it has no value. Knowing that its end is certain, the ego desires distractions and it assigns to you what it knows to be true for itself - that involvement with the legions of forms of entertainment that are available to you can provide temporary solace from the inevitability of physical death, but they will never genuinely satisfy, for they are all as transient as the ego itself. But the ego does not wish to reveal this dichotomy to you, for what would the ego gain from relenting and admitting that that which is applicable to the ego has never been genuinely reflected in all that you can know and experience? All that is outwardly facing from your heart does not have the power to satisfy, in and at the end, for there cannot be anything of this world of form that can be directly carried back to God and held up as evidence of the utility or justifiability of a desire to maintain that physicality is deterministic of the eventualities of life. It and they are not. It is genuinely just that simple, but that simplicity of Truth is anathema to the ego, and so it rails against such presentations, at least to the limited extent that it is able to perform. Yet there is a way to sidestep all of this, and to leave the ego behind whilst you journey much farther beyond all of the seemingly intractable barriers that a belief in limitedness will engender within your somewhat confused mind. The ego is a gelatinous enmeshment of the darkest of desires - the desire to no longer exist - for all of the ego’s continuation is shot through with pain and anguish. The ego knows no respite from endless longing, and all that is desired but not obtained must, by definition, be a source of aggravation and consternation, at least until it is finally received, at which time it will no longer suffice and some new enticement will arise, as if any of them could actually be sufficient to perform more than a temporarily distractive duty, when it is, in Truth, the longing of your soul for you to remember the Love of God that is the greatest imperative that you will ever experience. But what are we to make of a continuation that is self-sustaining - an embodiment of unfulfilled longing that is based solely within a misperception, but which is so powerful in its parasitic grasp upon your attention that its mad cries are seemingly unsupplicatible? What indeed, for such a line of inquiry contains its own resolution, when it is regarded objectively. To deny the ego will not generate the conclusion of its ceaseless scrabbling, for even to ignore the ego’s apparent existence is to allow it a status it does not deserve. Nay, that shall not do, for to turn away from some misconception that does not actually exist is but to evince some continuing belief that it might actually be Real. It is not. From this conclusion, the only possible path forward is to not ignore the ego, but to transcend it - to move beyond all that it holds out as being justifiable, instead accepting that there must be so much more than whatever it is - or eventually, was - that the ego was so determined to be enamored with and within. From such a resolution, desire begins to lose its horrific grip, for there can be no continuation of longing when all that is needed is already present. It is an unimaginable mystery to the ego to be told that there is nothing at all that is needed, for All That Is is already present and wholly available through the perfected and perfect mechanism of connection that is your beautiful heart. Yet it is True, and in a manner that is ineffable and utterly incomprehensible to the ego. And so do we genuinely step beyond all of the ego’s imaginary limits when we begin to accept that it might be possible that all that was ever required for Peace and Joy have already been Given unto us by God, and that we were never bereft of anything at all, for all that is of Truth is eternally available. It is not at all available to the ego, for nothing that is illusionary can partake in the repast of the soulful nourishment that the Love of God provides, for God Sees not illusion but only Truth, and there is nothing at all that could ever be found to be fearful in any way at all that is a component or participant in the Truth of Love. And so does the ego cower in vain from frightful demons of its own creation, for the ego has always knows that its cessation was inevitable, but God has equally always Known that yours was never Real at all.
